Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

This switch informs the PCM when the power steering pressure is high. During high pressure conditions, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will increase idle speed to compensate for the additional load. When the switch closes, the PCM will increase idle speed to compensate for the additional load.
