Drive Belt: Service and Repair

Serpentine Belt Routing:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Use a 1/2 inch breaker bar with a socket placed on the tensioner pulley axis bolt and rotate the tensioner to the left (counterclockwise).

CAUTION: Do NOT allow the drive belt tensioner to snap into the "free" position as this may damage the tensioner.

2. Remove belt.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Route belt over pulleys except the belt tensioner.
2. Use a 1/2 inch breaker bar with a socket placed on the tensioner pulley axis bolt and rotate the tensioner to the left (counterclockwise).
3. Belt over the tensioner pulley.
4. Check the belt for correct "V" groove tracking around each pulley.
