Timing Chain Replacement

1. Remove front cover as outlined under Timing Cover, Service and Repair.
2. Align timing marks on sprockets, Fig. 8, so they are as close together as possible.
3. Remove timing chain dampener.
4. Remove camshaft sprocket bolts, Fig. 9.
5. Remove camshaft sprocket and chain, then the crankshaft sprocket.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure No. 1 piston is at TDC.
b. Ensure camshaft and balance shaft timing marks are straight down, Fig. 8.
c. Assemble timing chain on sprockets with their timing marks in their closest together position.
d. Tighten camshaft sprocket bolts to specifications.
