DISASSEMBLE
1. Using press, bearing removal tool No. J-22227-A and pilot tool No. J-33369, or equivalents, remove front bearing.

2. Remove rear bearing and third and fourth gears simultaneously using split plate tool No. J-22912-01, or equivalent, and a press.

3. Remove needle bearing, collar, second gear, 1-2 synchronizer assembly, first gear and key together using a suitable press.

4. Remove thrust bearing and washer.


ASSEMBLE
1. Apply oil to thrust surfaces on all gears, then the bearing interior and race surfaces.

2. Install thrust washer, thrust bearing, needle bearing, first gear, inner and outer ring and blocker ring for first gear.

3. Apply engine oil to hub and collar assemblies, then match sleeve and hub assembly inserts with grooves on blocker ring and press sleeve, hub assembly and collar together using collar installer tool No. J-8853-01 and pilot tool No. J-33369, or equivalents, and a press. Ensure insert springs do not interfere with hub after installation.

4. Install blocker ring, outer and inner ring, needle bearing, and second gear, then insert retaining key in groove.

5. Apply engine oil to interior of third and fourth gear.

6. Match key with groove and align rear bearing, then press into place using bearing installer tool No. J-33374, or equivalent, and a press.

7. Use press and bearing installation tool No. J-33368, or equivalent, to install front bearing on shaft.
