Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

Mass Air Flow Sensor Installation:

MAF Sensor Replacement Procedure

Removal Procedure

Important: Take care when handling the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Do not dent, puncture, or otherwise damage the Honeycell located at the air inlet end of the MAF. Do not touch the sensing elements or allow anything (including cleaning solvents and lubricants) to come in contact with them. A small amount of GM lubricant (P/N 99855406) may be used on the air duct only, to aid in installation. Do not drop or roughly handle the MAF.

1. Disconnect the MAF sensor electrical connector.
2. Carefully spread crimped area of duct clamps and remove MAF sensor.

Installation Procedure

Important: Embossed arrows on MAF sensor indicate proper air flow direction and must point toward the engine.

1. Install the MAF sensor into air duct.
2. Install new clamps supplied with sensor. Crimp clamps using tool J 22610.
3. Connect the electrical connector.
