Service Procedure

1. Drain engine coolant, following the instructions contained in the 1996 S/T Truck Service Manual; Section 6B-10.

2. Remove coolant jacket plug, following the instructions contained in the 1996 S/T Truck Service Manual; Section 9E-1.

3. Install a coating of lubricant to the O-ring seal and the cleaned surface of plug opening in the block. Use lubricant P/N 12346004 for the LN2 Engine and P/N 12345996 for the L35 Engines.

4. Install engine block (coolant) heater and push tight to the engine block, following the instruction contained in the 1996 S/T Truck Service Manual; Section 9E-2.

5. Tighten bolt to 1.9 Nm (17 lbs. in.) until both locking wings draw tight against inner wall of engine block.

6. Connect heater cord to the coolant heater and route heater cord, following the instructions contained in the 1996 S/T Truck Service Manual; Section 9E-2.

7. Refill the engine coolant system following the instructions contained in the 1996 S/T Truck Service Manual; Section 6B-2, 3 and 10.

8. Check the system for leaks.

9. Install Campaign Identification Label.
