Front Caster and Camber Adjustment

PRELIMINARY PROCEDURE

NOTE: Before adjusting the camber and caster, it is necessary to remove a knockout from each frame bracket - connecting the upper control arm-to the vehicle.

Remove or Disconnect

- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Support the lower control arms with a jack or jack stands.

NOTE:
- The jack or stand must remain under the lower control arm torsion bar seat during the removal and installation procedure in order to retain the lower control arm position.

1. Tire and wheel assembly.
2. Upper control arm nuts, bolts, and adjusting cams.
- Note or mark the position of the adjusting cams(lobes down) and bolts, before removal, to aid reinstallation later.
- Reposition upper control arm to access the frame brackets.
3. Frame bracket knockout using pry bar.
- If knockout does not completely break free, use a die grinder of appropriate size to remove any burrs left by the knockout. Use the stamped outline as a guide.
- Repeat the procedure on the other upper control arm frame bracket.

Install Or Connect
1. Upper control arm (14) to frame brackets (15).
2. Adjusting cams (11) (lobes down) and bolts (12).
3. Nuts (10) (hand tighten).
4. Tire and wheel assembly.
- Repeat procedure on opposite control arm assembly and proceed to alien vehicle. Caster and camber adjustments are made by rotating the offset cam bolt (12) and cam (11) in the slotted frame bracket (15) to reposition the control arm (14). To adjust caster and camber, loosen upper control arm-to-frame attaching bolts. Rotate cam (11) by rotating the bolt head (12).

CAMBER
1. Hold the cam bolt (12) and loosen nut (10). Turn to obtain change equal to one half of needed correct ion. Hold cam bolt (12) in this position to maintain setting.
2. Obtain the remaining one half of needed correction by applying Step 1 to the other cam bolt (12), turn the cam lobe (11) in the same direction. When this camber adjustment is followed, the caster setting will not be affected.

CASTER
1. Note camber reading, hold front cam bolt (12) and loosen nut (10). Turn to obtain a change equal to 1/4 of the desired caster change. At the front cam bolt, a positive camber change produces a positive caster change and a negative Camber change produces a negative caster change. Hold cam bolt (12) in this position while tightening nut (10) to maintain setting.
2. Hold rear cam bolt (12) and loosen nut (10). Turn cam bolt (12) to return camber to setting noted in Step 1, by turning the cam (12) lobe in the opposite direction.
3. Check caster setting. If not within specifications, repeat the above procedure.
4. When adjustments are complete, hold cam bolt (12) head to ensure cam (11) position does not change while tightening nut. Tighten to 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.).
