Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Drain the engine coolant.
4. Lower the vehicle.

5. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

6. Remove the generator.




7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.




8. Remove the ECT sensor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTICE: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

1. Coat the ECT sensor threads with sealer P/N 12346004 or the equivalent.
2. Install the ECT sensor. Tighten the ECT sensor to 23 Nm (17 lb. ft).
3. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
4. Refill the engine coolant.
5. Install the generator.
6. Connect the generator electrical connectors.
7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
8. Recheck the engine coolant level.
