Center Support And Gear Unit Assembly Removal

- Tools Required:
- J 6116-01 Gear Holding Fixture
- J 21364-A Adapter
- J 38868 Gear Assembly Remover/Installer
- J 6129 Handle
- Or Equivalent

Important: Discard the center support bolt after you have removed the bolt. Damage could result to the center support housing if you reuse the bolt.





1. Remove the center support bolt (25) using a 3/8" Tort socket.





2. Remove the rear cooler line fitting (90)
3. Inspect the fitting for damaged threads.





4. Remove the center support retainer ring (633).





5. Attach the J 38868 to the transmission mainshaft.
6. Tighten the thumb screw.
7. Install J 6129 to J 38868.
8. Turn J 6129 so that the shaft contacts the main shaft.
9. Remove the center support assembly and the gear unit (640-672) by lifting J 38868 with J 6129.
10. Remove J 6129 and J 38868.





11. Place the center support assembly and the gear unit assembly (640-672) into J 21364-A (not visible in the illustration) and J 6116-01.
