Improper cruise control operation can be caused by any number of mechanical or electrical problems (or a combination thereof). To resolve any cruise control operating problem, the technician should perform a few preliminary checks and visual inspections:
^ Check the fuses related to the cruise control system.
^ Check the cruise control wiring for bare or broken wires.
^ Check for loose or backed out terminals.
^ Check for a properly adjusted cruise control cable.

If these preliminary inspections reveal no solution and the cruise control system is inoperative.
