Replacement (Unit Repair)

REMOVAL
1. Remove the drive belt tensioner bolt.





2. Remove the drive belt tensioner.





3. Remove the large front cover bolts (2).
4. Remove the small front cover bolts (1).
5. Remove the front cover.
6. Remove the front cover gasket.



INSTALLATION
1. Install the front cover gasket.
2. Apply sealer to both sides of the lower tabs of the front cover gasket. Use GM RTV sealer GM P/N 12346004 or its equivalent.
3. Install the front cover.
4. Install the front cover bolts.
- Tighten the large longer bolts (2) to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the large shorter bolts (3) to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the small bolts (1) to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the drive belt tensioner.
6. Install the drive belt tensioner retaining bolt.
- Tighten the bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
