Engine Block Plug Installation

ENGINE BLOCK PLUG INSTALLATION
1. Apply gasket paste GM P/N 12346004 to the plug.
2. Install the engine block coolant drain plug.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the coolant jacket plug.
^ Tighten the coolant jacket plug to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

4. Apply gasket paste GM P/N 12346004 to the plug.





5. Install the timing chain tensioner gallery oil passage plug.
^ Tighten the oil passage plug to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

6. Apply gasket paste GM P/N 12346004 to the plug.





7. Install the rear oil passage plug.
^ Tighten the oil passage plug to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
8. Apply gasket paste GM P/N 12346004 to the plug.





9. Install the front oil passage plug.
^ Tighten the oil passage plug to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
10. Apply gasket paste GM P/N 12346004 to the plug.





11. Install the right side oil passage plug.
^ Tighten the oil passage plug to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).





12. Install a new oil flow check valve in the oil passage for the cylinder head.
13. Drive the check valve in until the valve is flush with the cylinder block headgasket surface.
