Timing Cover: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Remove the engine oil pan.
2. Remove the crankshaft balancer.
3. Remove the water pump.





4. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the CKP sensor.
6. Remove the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Removal under Engine Unit Repair.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Installation under Engine Unit Repair.

NOTICE: Do not reuse the engine front cover. Oil leaks may result. Do not reuse the original seal (O-ring) when installing the Crankshaft Position (CKP) to the engine front cover. Erratic engine operation may result.

2. Install the CKP sensor with a NEW seal (O-ring).





3. Install the engine oil pan.
4. Connect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
5. Install the water pump.
6. Install the crankshaft balancer.
