Tools Required
^ J 38491 Spark Plug Heat Shield Removal Tool
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2. Remove the spark plug wire retaining clips from the engine.
3. Rotate the engine. Refer to Rotating the Engine for Service Access in Engine.
CAUTION: Twist the spark plug boot one-half turn in order to release the boot. Pull on the spark plug boot only. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or the wire could be damaged.
IMPORTANT: Transfer any of the following when replacing the spark plug wires:
^ Spark plug wire conduit
^ Spark plug wire retaining clips
4. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs using the J 38491.
NOTE: Be sure to note the position of the spark plug wires BEFORE removing the spark plug wires.
Description:
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Connect the spark plug wires to the proper location. See the callouts for the coil-to-cylinder combinations.
2. Return the engine to the proper position. Refer to Rotating the Engine for Service Access in Engine.
3. Install the spark plug wire retaining clips to the engine.
