Cooling Fan Relay

Engine Cooling Fan Description - Electric
All front wheel drive vehicles with transversely mounted engines use an electric cooling fan. The electric cooling fan is used to cool the engine coolant as it flows through the radiator.

Operation
The electric cooling fan operates when the engine coolant temperature exceeds a specified value. The electric cooling fan is controlled by the powertrain control module. The electric cooling fan has only one speed. The powertrain control module turns the Cooling fan ON by grounding the coil side of the cooling fan relay when the engine coolant temperature sensor reaches a specified value.
