Backup Lamp Switch: Service and Repair
Removal ProcedureM/T M5 and MK7
Notice: When removing or installing the backup light switch, do not use an open end wrench. Use only a socket in order to avoid damage to the switch assembly.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the backup lamp connector.
3. Remove the backup light switch assembly.
Installation Procedure
Notice: When removing or installing the backup light switch, do not use an open end wrench. Use only a socket in order to avoid damage to the switch assembly.
1. Install the backup light switch. using pipe sealant GM P/N 1052080 or equivalent.
^ Tighten the switch to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Connect the backup lamp connector.
3. Connect the negative battery cable.
