Battery Cable Replacement-Negative

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.






1. Disconnect the negative battery cable (1).
2. Remove the negative cable from the retaining clip on the positive cable.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
4. Remove the bolt (5) anchoring the negative battery cable to the block.
5. Remove the bolt (2) anchoring the negative battery cable to the frame.
6. Remove the negative battery cable.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the negative battery cable (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolt (5) anchoring the negative battery cable to the block.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Install the bolt (2) anchoring the negative battery cable to the frame.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

4. Remove the safety stands.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Install the negative cable to the retaining clip on the positive cable.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
