Programming Additional Keys

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 35628-A PASS/VATS Interrogator

In order to duplicate an ignition key, determine the proper electrical code of the key.
1. Insert the customer's spare ignition key into the key code reader on J 35628-A.
2. Press the ON-OFF rocker switch to the ON position.
3. A number from 1 to 15 appears in the window. This number indicates the electrical code of the key. If the interrogator displays E, replace the ignition key.
4. Cut a new key having the electrical code determined in step 3.
5. Use the new key to start the vehicle. Ensure the following conditions:
^ The key is mechanically correct.
^ The key is electrically correct.
