Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Hoist the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the hoses from the EVAP canister.




3. Remove the EVAP canister retainer attaching bolt.




4. Remove the EVAP canister and retainer.

NOTE: The EVAP canister may have released carbon particles which caused this part to tail and may cause damage to other components. Check the EVAP canister for loose carbon before returning the vehicle to service.




5. Remove the EVAP canister retainer from the canister.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Snap the EVAP canister retainer onto the EVAP canister.




2. Install the end of the EVAP canister into the tab on the body.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. Install the EVAP canister retainer attaching bolt.

Tighten
EVAP canister retainer attaching bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in).




4. Connect the hoses to the EVAP canister.
5. Lower the vehicle.
