SIR Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture





1. Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly to the 12 o'clock position.
2. Turn the key to the off position and remove the key.





3. A new SIR coil assembly will be precentered. Do not depress the tab (1) on the back of the SIR coil assembly.
4. If reusing the original SIR coil, refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle (Column Shift And Floor Shift).
5. Install the SIR coil assembly onto the race and upper shaft assembly.
6. If installing a new SIR coil assembly, remove the orange tab and discard.

IMPORTANT: The retaining ring must seat in the groove on the race and upper shaft assembly.





7. Install the retaining ring.
8. Install the SIR coil down lead into the wire restraint clip.
9. Remove the steering column from J41352.
