Check that the differential fluid level is even with the bottom of the fill plug hole to no lower than 6 mm (0.25 inch) below the opening.


If the differential fluid level is very low, use synthetic axle lubricant GM P/N 12378261, or equivalent meeting GM specification 9986115 and add enough limited-slip differential lubricant additive GM P/N 1052358, or equivalent to maintain the original ratio of 1.6 L (1.69 qt.) of axle lubricant to 118 mL (4.0 oz.) of limited-slip additive.
