Brake Pedal Assy: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the stoplamp switch and power brake booster pushrod assembly from the brake pedal pin. Refer to Stoplamp Switch Replacement.
2. Remove the instrument panel harness from the brake pedal bracket.
3. Remove the bolt to the upper brake pedal bracket.





4. Remove the nuts from the studs on the power brake booster.
5. Remove the brake pedal bracket from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the brake pedal bracket to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the nuts to the studs on the power brake booster.
Tighten the power brake booster retaining nuts to 36 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).





3. Install the bolt (4) to the brake pedal bracket (5).
Tighten the upper brake pedal bolt to 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the instrument panel harness to the brake pedal bracket.
5. Install the pushrod and stoplamp switch assembly to the brake pedal pin. Refer to Stoplamp Switch Replacement.
6. Check the brake pedal travel. Refer to Brake System Diagnosis.
