Coolant Line/Hose: Service and Repair


Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
3. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
4. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir/surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement or Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement.
5. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement.
6. Disconnect the by-pass hose from the water pump. For vehicles with the 4.3L and 5.0/5.7L engines.





7. Disconnect the by-pass hose from the water pump. For vehicles with the 7.4L engine.





8. Disconnect the by-pass hose from the water pump. For vehicles with the 6.5L diesel engine.
9. Remove the by-pass hose from the vehicle.


Installation Procedure





1. Install the by-pass hose to the vehicle.
2. Connect the by-pass hose to the water pump. For vehicles with the 6.5L diesel engine.





3. Connect the by-pass hose to the water pump. For vehicles with the 7.4L engine.





4. Connect the by-pass hose to the water pump. For vehicles with the 4.3L and 5.0/5.7L engines.
5. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement.
6. Install the coolant recovery reservoir/surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement or Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement.
7. Refill the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
8. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
9. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery terminal. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
