Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the 14-way connector from the ignition control module.
3. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the coil assemblies note the position that the wires were removed.
4. Remove 6 screws (1) securing the coil assemblies to the ignition control module.
5. Remove the coils (2) from the ignition control module (3).
6. Remove the 2 nuts and washers under the module bracket.
7. Remove the ignition control module.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the module on the module bracket and install the nuts and washers securing the ignition control module assembly to the mounting bracket.

Tighten:
Tighten the nuts to 8 N.m (70 lb in).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Attach the coils (2) to the ignition control module (3) and install 6 ignition coil attaching screws (1).

Tighten:
Tighten the screws to 4-5 N.m (40 lb in).

3. Connect the spark plug wires.
4. Connect the 14-way connector to module.
