Ignition Cable: Service and Repair

SPARK PLUG WIRE HARNESS REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 38491 Spark Plug Heat Shield Removal Tool




1. Turn OFF the ignition switch
2. Remove the spark plug wire retaining clips from the engine.
3. Rotate the engine.

NOTE: Twist the spark plug boot one-half turn in order to release the boot. Pull on the spark plug boot only. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or the wire could be damaged.

IMPORTANT: Transfer any of the following when replacing the spark plug wires:
^ Spark plug wire conduit
^ Spark plug wire retaining clips

4. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs using the J 38491. Be sure to note the position of the spark plug wires BEFORE removing the spark plug wires.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Connect the spark plug wires (1) to the proper location.




2. Return the engine to the proper position.




3. Install the spark plug wire (1) retaining clips to the engine.
