Torque Converter: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transaxle Replacement.






2. Remove the torque converter (1) from transmission.
3. Remove the torque converter seal bolts from transmission.
4. Remove the torque converter seal from transmission.
5. Remove the seal from the input shaft.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the shaft seal to the input shaft.
2. Install the torque converter seal to transmission.
3. Install the converter seal bolts to transmission.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the bolts of the torque converter seals to 3 Nm (26 inch lbs.).






4. Install the torque converter (1) to the transmission. While rotating the torque converter, push the torque converter into the position. The torque converter must be completely seated.
5. Install the transmission. Refer to Transaxle Replacement.
