Intermittent Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)

In the case of an intermittent fault, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate and then (after three trips) go OFF. A corresponding diagnostic trouble code will be stored in the memory. Consult the Diagnostic Aids associated with the diagnostic trouble code. A physical inspection of the applicable sub-system can often resolve the problem.

A diagnostic trouble code that illuminates the MIL repeatedly may indicate an intermittent malfunction.
