Pilot Bearing: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J 34839 Pinion Bearing Remover
- J 37764 Pilot Bearing Remover Adapter
- J 23907 Clutch Pilot Bearing Remover





1. Remove the manual transmission assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement - 2WD or Transmission Replacement - 4WD.
2. Remove the pressure plate and the clutch disc from the flywheel. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement
3. Remove the clutch pilot bearing (1) from the crankshaft using the J 37764, J 34839 and the J 23907.
4. Inspect the clutch pilot bearing (1) for scoring, binding or rough operation.
5. Replace as necessary.


Installation Procedure

- J 7079-2 Driver Handle
- J 34848 Clutch Pilot Bearing Installer





1. Install the clutch bearing into the crankshaft using the J 34848 with the J 7079-2.
2. Install the clutch disc and the pressure plate to the flywheel (1). Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement
3. Install the manual transmission assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement - 2WD or Transmission Replacement - 4WD.
