Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Service and Repair




Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement Service and Repair.




3. Remove the fasteners (2) that hold the air cleaner bracket to the intake manifold.
4. Raise the bracket (1) enough to access the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor.
5. Disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector.




6. Remove the MAP sensor retaining bolt and washer (1).
7. Remove the MAP sensor (3) from the intake manifold (2).
8. Inspect the MAP sensor seal for wear or damage and replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

Important: Lightly coat the MAP sensor seal with rubber lubricant part number 9985770 before installing the sensor. The lubricant should be applied with a sponge or a brush. To prevent blockage, avoid dipping the sensor port directly into the lubricant.





1. Install the MAP sensor (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the MAP sensor retaining bolt and washer (1).

Tighten the fastener to 12 Nm(106 lb in).

3. Connect the MAP sensor electrical connector.




4. Install the air cleaner bracket (1) and fasteners (2).

Tighten the fasteners to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

5. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement Service and Repair.
