Accelerator Pedal: Service and Repair
ACCELERATOR CONTROLS PEDAL REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the left sound insulator Insulator Replacement - IP in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
2. Release the cable (1) retainer from the accelerator pedal lever.
3. Remove the accelerator pedal assembly attaching nuts.
4. Remove the pedal assembly (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the pedal assembly (2) to the cowl.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the nuts to the cowl.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
3. Install the accelerator cable (1) through the slot in the accelerator pedal assembly (2) and snap into place.
4. Install the left sound insulator Insulator Replacement - IP in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
5. Inspect for correct opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Make sure that the throttle valve reaches a wide open throttle position. If the throttle valve does not, inspect for damaged or bent brackets, levers, or other components. Also inspect for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
