Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE:
^ Handle the MAF sensor carefully.
^ Do not drop the MAF sensor in order to prevent damage to the MAF sensor.
^ Do not damage the screen located on the air inlet end of the MAF.
^ Do not touch the sensing elements.
^ Do not allow solvents and lubricants to come in contact with the sensing elements.
^ Use a small amount of a soap based solution in order to aid in the installation.




1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the MAF sensor (5) harness connector.
3. Remove the bolts that secure the front air filter housing tabs (3).




4. Loosen the clamps on the MAF sensor.
5. Carefully remove the MAF sensor from the air intake ducts.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the MAF sensor flow arrows point away from the air cleaner assembly.




1. Install the MAF sensor into the air intake ducts.
2. Tighten the clamps on the MAF sensor.

Tighten
Tighten the clamps to 4 N.m (35 lb in).




3. Install the bolts that secure the front air filter housing tabs (3).
4. Connect the MAF sensor (5) harness connector.
5. Start the engine and inspect for air leaks.
