Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

CONDENSER REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the radiator grille.
3. Remove the push-pins from the hood latch cover.
4. Remove the lower hood latch cover from the vehicle.
5. Remove the hood latch from the vehicle.
6. Remove the left hand headlamp housing.
7. Remove the A/C lines (4) from the condenser (1).




8. Remove the retaining bolts from the condenser.
9. Remove the condenser (3) from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the condenser (3) to the vehicle.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the retaining bolts to the condenser.

Tighten
Tighten the condenser retaining bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




3. Install the A/C lines (4) to the condenser (1).

Tighten
Tighten the compressor discharge hose to the condenser to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

4. Install the left hand headlamp housing.
5. Install the hood latch to the vehicle.
6. Install the lower hood latch cover to the vehicle.
7. Install the radiator grille.
8. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
9. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A.
