EGR Tube: Service and Repair

EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) PIPE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
2. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) pipe bracket retaining fastener.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct.
4. Loosen the pipe fittings at both ends of the EGR pipe.
5. Remove the EGR pipe.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Do not fully tighten at this step.




1. Install the EGR pipe in the proper location and start the pipe fittings by hand.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Ensure that the EGR pipe fittings are correctly lined up on the adaptors to the exhaust and intake manifolds.
Tighten the EGR pipe fitting to the exhaust manifold.

Tighten
Tighten the EGR pipe fitting to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

3. Tighten the EGR pipe filling to intake manifold.

Tighten
Tighten the EGR pipe fitting to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Install the EGR pipe bracket retaining fastener.

Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

5. Reinstall the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
