Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) CANISTER REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.




2. Disconnect the hoses from the evaporative emissions (EVAP) canister.




3. Remove the attaching bolt from the EVAP canister retainer.




4. Remove the EVAP canister and the retainer.




5. Remove the EVAP canister retainer from the canister.

NOTE: The EVAP canister may have released carbon particles which caused this part to fail and may cause damage to other components. Check the EVAP canister for loose carbon before returning the vehicle to service.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Snap the EVAP canister retainer onto the EVAP canister.




2. Install the end of the EVAP canister into the tab on the body.




3. Install the attaching bolt to the EVAP canister retainer.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




4. Reconnect the hoses to the EVAP canister.
5. Lower the vehicle.
