Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Raise the vehicle.

CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.

3. Remove the spark plug wires (1) and ignition control module (ICM) electrical connectors.
4. Remove the 2 bolts from the affected ignition coil (2).




5. Remove the ignition coil from the ICM.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the ignition coil (2) to the ICM.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the spark plug wires (1) and ICM electrical connectors.

Tighten
Tighten the ignition coil bolts to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
