Air Injection Pump: Service and Repair

SECONDARY AIR INJECTION (AIR) PUMP REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Raise the vehicle.

CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.




3. Disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) pump inlet and outlet hoses.
4. Remove the AIR pump solenoid (5) from the AIR pump (4).
5. Disconnect the AIR pump electrical connector (2) from the AIR pump.
6. Remove the AIR pump attaching bolts.
7. Remove the AIR pump (4) from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the AIR pump (4) and attaching bolts.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt and nut to 17 N.m (12.5 lb ft).

2. Connect the AIR pump electrical connector (2) to the AIR pump (4).
3. Install the AIR pump solenoid (5) to the AIR pump (4).
4. Connect the AIR pump inlet and outlet hoses to the AIR pump (4).
5. Lower the vehicle.
