Ignition Key is Hot or Warm When Removed From Ignition Lock Cylinder After Driving (Replace Ignition Lock Cylinder Solenoid)

Models:
2004-2006 Chevrolet Aveo (Hatchback and Sedan)
2004-2007 Chevrolet Optra (Canada Only)
2007 Chevrolet Aveo (Hatchback Only)
2004-2006 Pontiac Wave (Hatchback and Sedan - Canada Only)
2007 Pontiac Wave (Hatchback Only - Canada Only)

Condition

Some customers may comment that the ignition key is hot or warm when removed from the ignition lock cylinder after driving.

Correction





Take care not to drop or lose the solenoid spring (1).

Replace the ignition lock cylinder solenoid (2) (also known as the "key interlock solenoid (2)) with a new service part, P/N 96843730. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in SI.
