Knock Sensor: Service and Repair




Knock Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the variable intake system (VIS) vacuum tank. Refer to Intake Air Tuning Valve Vacuum Reservoir Replacement Service and Repair.





3. Remove the wiring harness from the support bracket.





4. Disconnect the knock sensor wiring harness connector.

5. Remove the knock sensor.

Installation Procedure

Notice:
Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.





1. Install the knock sensor.

Tighten the knock sensor retaining bolt to 19 Nm (14 lb ft).

3. Connect the knock sensor wiring harness connector.





4. Install the wiring harness to the support bracket.





5. Install the VIS vacuum tank. Refer to Intake Air Tuning Valve Vacuum Reservoir Replacement Service and Repair.

Tighten the VIS vacuum tank retaining bolts to 8 Nm (71 lb in).

6. Connect the negative battery cable.
