Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure





Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the coolant to a level below the coolant temperature sensor.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the coolant temperature sensor.
4. Remove the temperature sensor.

Installation Procedure





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Install the coolant temperature sensor into the threaded hole in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve mounting adapter.

Tighten the coolant temperature sensor to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).

2. Connect the electrical connector to the coolant temperature sensor.
3. Refill the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (2.0L) Service and RepairDraining and Filling Cooling System (2.5L) Service and Repair.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
