Battery Negative Cable Replacement (LY7)

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the battery box cover.




2. Disconnect the negative battery (3).
3. Remove the retaining nut (1) for the ground wire (2).
4. Remove the ground wire (2).
5. Remove the retaining clips for the battery cables (4).




6. Remove the air intake duct.




7. Remove the retaining nut for the ground wire (4).
8. Remove the engine harness ground lead (3).
9. Remove the battery cable ground lead (2) from the studnut (1).




10. Remove the negative battery cable from the engine harness.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the negative battery cable between the battery and the engine block.




2. Install the negative battery cable ground (2) stud/nut (1).
3. Install the engine harness ground lead (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

4. Install the retaining nut for the ground wire (4).

Tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




5. Install the retaining clips for the battery cables (4).
6. Install the ground wire (2).
7. Install the retaining nut (1) for the ground wire (2).
8. Connect the negative battery (3).




9. Install the battery box cover.




10. Install the air intake duct.
