Gear Select/Skip Shift Solenoid Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair

2. Remove the exhaust system. 3. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (195/218mm Axle) Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (195/218mm Axle)Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (250mm Axle) Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (250mm Axle)

4. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.

5. Remove the transmission support retaining fasteners from the vehicle body.

6. Slightly lower the transmission to gain access to the solenoid.

7. Disconnect the solenoid electrical connector.





8. Remove the solenoid (1) from the transmission.

Installation Procedure





1. If removed, inspect the solenoid O-ring. Replace the O-ring if necessary.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution

2. Install the solenoid and tighten the solenoid to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).

3. Connect the solenoid electrical connector.

4. Install the transmission support to body retaining bolts. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement Aisin AY6 - Manual Transmission

5. Remove the transmission jack.

6. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (195/218mm Axle) Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (195/218mm Axle)Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (250mm Axle) Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (250mm Axle)

7. Install the exhaust system.

8. Lower the vehicle.
