Brake Warning System

Brake Warning System Description and Operation

The purpose of the brake warning system is to warn the driver of the park brake being applied whilst the vehicle is being driven, a brake Electronic Brake Differential (EBD) failure and/or a low brake fluid level condition.

* The Park Brake Warning is active when the park brake signal is active and the vehicle speed is greater than 10 km/h (6 mph).

A red telltale illuminates whilst the park brake signal is active, regardless of the vehicle speed.

The Park Brake Warning is displayed both as an animation on the Multi Function Display (MFD) and as a telltale. The General Warning Chime sounds when the animated warning activates. The chime will not repeat whilst the warning remains active.

The Park Brake Warning remains on the Multi Function Display (MFD) until:

- The ENTER switch is pressed.

- The TRIP button is pressed.

- The condition is rectified.

- The speed is reduced to less than 10 km/h (6 mph).

* A brake EBD fail warning is active when the brake fail signal is active.

A red telltale illuminates whilst the brake fail signal is active.

A brake EBD Fail Warning is displayed both as an animation on the MFD and as a telltale. The General Warning Chime sounds when the animated warning activates. The chime will not repeat whilst the warning remains active.

The brake EBD fail warning remains on the MFD until:

- The ENTER switch is pressed.

- The TRIP button is pressed.

- The condition is rectified.

* A brake fluid level warning is active when the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) detects an increase in resistance in the Brake Fluid Level Switch circuit.

A red telltale illuminates continuously with the ignition in the ON position and the resistance of the Brake Fluid Level Switch circuit above a predetermined value.

The brake fluid level warning is displayed both as an animation on the MFD and as a telltale. The General Warning Chime sounds when the animated warning activates. The chime will not repeat whilst the warning remains active.

The brake fluid level warning remains on the MFD until:

- The ENTER switch is pressed.

- The TRIP button is pressed.

- The condition is rectified.
