Air Inlet Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).

2. Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement Service and Repair.

3. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Lower Panel) Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Lower Panel)Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Upper Panel) Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Upper Panel).




4. Remove the HVAC to bulkhead retaining bolt (1).

5. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement Service and Repair.

6. Remove the close out panel, if equipped. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side.

7. Remove the right side floor air outlet duct. Refer to Floor Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side (LHD) Floor Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side (LHD).

8. Remove the instrument panel tie bar. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (9C3) Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (9C3)Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (9C1) Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (9C1).




9. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector (1).

10. Disconnect the HVAC module electrical connector (2).

11. Disconnect the blower motor control processor electrical connector (3).

12. Detach the I/P wiring harness to HVAC module assembly retaining clips (4).




13. Disconnect the air intake fresh/recirculation actuator electrical connector (1).

14. Detach the wiring harness (2) from the air inlet assembly (5).

15. Remove the air inlet assembly to I/P carrier retaining bolt (4)

16. Remove the air inlet assembly to HVAC module assembly retaining bolts (3).





Note: Slide the air inlet assembly (2) to the right to detach the air inlet assembly (2) from the HVAC module assembly (1).

17. Detach the air inlet assembly (2) from the HVAC module assembly (1).

Note: Lower and rotate the air inlet assembly (1) clockwise to remove the air inlet assembly (1) from the vehicle.

18. Remove the air inlet assembly (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





Note: Rotate the air inlet assembly (1) counter-clockwise and raise to install the air inlet assembly (1) to the vehicle.

1. Install the air inlet assembly (1) to the vehicle.

2. Attach the air inlet assembly (2) to the HVAC module assembly (1).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the air inlet assembly to HVAC module assembly retaining bolts (3) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

4. Install the air inlet assembly to I/P carrier retaining bolt (4) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

5. Connect the air intake fresh/recirculation actuator electrical connector (1).

6. Attach the wiring harness (2) to the air inlet assembly (5).




7. Connect the blower motor control processor electrical connector (3).

8. Connect the HVAC module electrical connector (2).

9. Connect the blower motor electrical connector (1).

10. Attach the I/P wiring harness to HVAC module assembly retaining clips (4).




11. Install the HVAC module assembly to bulkhead retaining bolt (1) and tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb in).

12. Install the instrument panel tie bar. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (9C3) Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (9C3)Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (9C1) Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (9C1).

13. Install the right side floor air outlet duct. Refer to Floor Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side (LHD) Floor Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Right Side (LHD).

14. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement Service and Repair.

15. Install the closeout panel, if equipped. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side.

16. Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Lower Panel) Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Lower Panel)Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Upper Panel) Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Upper Panel).

17. Install the windshield wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement Service and Repair.

18. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).
