Knock Sensor: Service and Repair




Knock Sensor Replacement (LDE, LXV, LUW, 2H0 and LFH)

Removal Procedure

1. Open the hood.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without Start/Stop System) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without Start/Stop System).




3. Remove the 2 intake manifold bracket bolts (2, 3).
4. Unclip the wiring harness.
5. Remove the intake manifold bracket (1).




6. Remove the sensor bolt (1).
7. Disconnect the wiring harness plug.
8. Remove the knock sensor (2) from the bracket (3).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the knock sensor (2) to the bracket (3).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution

2. Install the sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
3. Connect the wiring harness plug.




4. Install the intake manifold bracket (1).
5. Clip in the wiring harness.
6. Install the 2 intake manifold bracket bolts (2, 3) and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb in).
7. Connect the negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without Start/Stop System) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without Start/Stop System).
8. Close the hood.
