Engine Wiring and Battery Positive Cable Harness Replacement (LSA)
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
2. Remove the junction block cover (4).
3. Remove the junction block fastener (3).
4. Remove the engine harness and the battery positive cable terminal from the junction block terminal (1).
5. Remove the engine harness and the battery positive cable (2).
6. Disconnect the battery positive cable terminal (2) and the junction fastener (1) from the fuse block.
7. Remove the starter heat shield. Refer to Starter Shield Replacement (LSA,LS3,L99) Service and Repair.
8. Remove the battery positive protective boot (1) from the back of the generator.
9. Remove the battery positive cable fastener (2) and remove the battery positive terminal (3).
10. Remove the battery positive cable generator fastener (1) and the battery positive cable terminal (2), from the generator.
11. Disconnect the engine harness retainer (1) and remove the battery positive bracket fasteners (2,3).
12. Remove the battery positive bracket fasteners (1) and (2).
13. Remove the battery positive retainers (3).
Note: Visualize how the harness was routed within the engine compartment.
14. Remove the engine and the battery positive cable harness (1) from the engine compartment.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
1. Install the battery positive cable bracket (4) to the right side engine block and tighten the fastener (2) to 58 Nm (43 lb ft).
2. Install the battery positive bracket fastener (1) to the engine block and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
3. Install the battery positive bracket (4) to the left engine block and tighten the fastener (3) to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
4. Install the stud/fastener (2) to the battery positive bracket and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
5. Install the engine harness retainer (1) to the battery positive bracket (4).
6. Install the battery positive cable terminal (3) and the generator fastener (2). Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
7. Install the generator protective boot (1).
8. Install the battery positive cable terminal (2) and fastener (1) to the starter. Tighten to 13 Nm (10 lb ft).
9. Install the engine harness and the battery positive cable terminal (1) to the junction block. Tighten the junction block fastener (3) to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
10. Install the battery positive cable terminal (2) to the fuse block. Tighten the fuse block fastener (1) to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
11. Install the fuse block cover.
12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
