MAINTENANCE II

1. CHANGE THE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER. Reset the oil life system. Refer to Service Reminder Indicators for information on the engine Oil Life System and resetting the system. An Emission Control Service.

2. VISUALLY CHECK FOR ANY LEAKS OR DAMAGE. A fluid loss in any vehicle system could indicate a problem. Have the system inspected and repaired and the fluid level checked. Add fluid if needed.

3. INSPECT THE ENGINE AIR CLEANER FILTER. If necessary, replace filter. If you drive regularly under dusty conditions, inspect the filter at each engine oil change.

4. ROTATE THE TIRES AND INSPECT THE TIRE INFLATION PRESSURES AND THE TIRE WEAR.

5. INSPECT THE BRAKE SYSTEM. Visually inspect the brake lines and the hoses for proper hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. Inspect the disc brake pads for wear and inspect the rotors for surface condition. Inspect other brake parts, including the calipers, the parking brake, etc. Inspect the parking brake adjustment.

6. INSPECT THE ENGINE COOLANT AND THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID LEVELS. ADD FLUID AS NEEDED.

7. PERFORM ANY NEEDED ADDITIONAL SERVICES. Refer to Additional Required Services.

8. INSPECT THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING COMPONENTS. Visually inspect front and rear suspension and steering system for damaged, loose, or missing parts, signs of wear or lack of lubrication. Inspect power steering lines and hoses for proper hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc.

9. INSPECT THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM. Visually inspect the hoses and replace any that are cracked, swollen or deteriorated. Inspect all pipes, fittings and clamps. Replace as needed. To help ensure proper operation, pressure test the cooling system and the pressure cap, and clean the outside of the radiator and the air conditioning condenser at least once a year.

10. INSPECT THE WIPER BLADES. Inspect wiper blades for wear, cracking, or contamination. Clean the windshield and wiper blades, if contaminated. Replace wiper blades that are worn or damaged.

11. INSPECT THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM COMPONENTS. Verify that the safety belt reminder light and all of the belts, buckles, latch plates, retractors and anchorages are working properly. If the vehicle has a built-in child restraint, verify that the harness straps, latch plates, buckle, clip, child head restraint and anchorages are working properly. Look for any other loose or damaged safety belt system parts. Repair anything that might keep a safety belt system from doing the job. Replace any torn or frayed safety belts. Also look for any opened or broken air bag coverings, and repair or replace these parts. The air bag system does NOT need regular maintenance.

12. LUBRICATE THE BODY COMPONENTS. Lubricate all key lock cylinders, hood latch assembly, secondary latch, pivots, spring anchor, release pawl, rear compartment hinges, outer liftgate handle pivot points, rear door detent link, roller mechanism, liftgate handle pivot points, latch bolt, fuel door hinge, cargo door hinge, locks and folding seat hardware. Lubricate the hood and door hinges, rear folding seats, liftgate hinges, fuel door hinge, power sliding door cable and sliding door tracks. More frequent lubrication may be required when the vehicle has been exposed to a corrosive environment. Applying silicone grease on weather-strips with a clean cloth will ensure longer life, create a better seal, and prevent sticking or squeaking.

13. REPLACE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AIR FILTER. If the vehicle is driven regularly under dusty conditions, the filter may require replacement more often.

14. INSPECT THE THROTTLE SYSTEM. Inspect the throttle system for interference or binding and for damaged or missing parts. Replace parts as needed. Replace any components that have high effort or excessive wear. Do NOT lubricate the accelerator or the cruise control cables.
