Steering Column Jacket Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the driver knee bolster reinforcement.
2. Remove the ignition lock cylinder case.




3. Remove the steering column mounting bolts.
4. Support the lower steering column as needed.




5. Remove the steering column jacket bolts and slide the steering column jacket off the steering column shaft.

Installation Procedure

Important: The steering column shaft splines must be free of dirt and debris.

1. Clean the steering column shaft splines
2. Use the supplied grease to apply 2 grams (0.07 oz) of grease to the steering column shaft splines.




3. Slide the steering column jacket over the steering column shaft and into place.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

4. Install the steering column jacket bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 11 N.m (97 lb in).




5. Install the steering column mounting bolts.
1. Tighten the right steering column mounting bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
2. Tighten the left steering column mounting bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
6. Install the driver knee bolster reinforcement.
7. Install the ignition lock cylinder case.
