DTC Descriptors

DTC B3607
- Adjustable Foot Pedal Motor Circuit

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The adjustable pedal motor control circuits are controlled by the adjustable pedal relay. The adjustable pedal relay may be controlled by either the memory seat module (MSM) or the adjustable pedal switch. In an inactive state both of the relay switch contacts are closed to the ground circuit. The relay coils are energized when battery voltage is supplied to the relay control circuits by either the MSM or the adjustable pedal switch. When the forward control or rearward control relay coil is energized the appropriate motor control circuit is switched to the battery voltage supply circuit contact.

Conditions for Running the DTC

System voltage to the memory seat module must be 7-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The MSM detects one of the following conditions on either of the adjustable pedal relay control circuits:

* An open or short to voltage while the MSM output is in an inactive state.
* A short to ground while the MSM output is in an active state.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The memory recall functions will be disabled for as long as the DTC is current.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The DTC will be stored as a history code when the fault is no longer present.
* A history DTC will be cleared after 100 consecutive ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal switch.
2. Disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal relay. Connect a test lamp between terminal C of the adjustable pedals relay connector and ground. verify the test lamp illuminates.

^ If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the adjustable pedals relay voltage supply circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance.

3. Connect a test lamp between terminals C and D of the adjustable pedals relay connector. Verify the test lamp illuminates.

^ If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the adjustable pedals relay ground circuit for an open or high resistance.

4. Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between terminals A and D of the adjustable pedals relay connector. With a scan tool, command the adjustable pedals forward control ON and OFF. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.

^ If the test lamp is always ON, test the adjustable pedals relay forward control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the memory seat module.
^ If the test lamp is always OFF, test the adjustable pedals relay forward control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the memory seat module.

5. Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between terminals D and F of the adjustable pedals relay connector. With a scan tool, command the adjustable pedals rearward control ON and OFF. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.

^ If the test lamp is always ON, test the adjustable pedals relay rearward control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the memory seat module.
^ If the test lamp is always OFF, test the adjustable pedals relay rearward control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the memory seat module.

6. Ignition OFF, reconnect the adjustable pedal switch.
7. Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between terminals A and D of the adjustable pedals relay connector. Verify the test lamp does not illuminate.

^ If the test lamp illuminates, replace the adjustable pedals switch.

8. Connect a test lamp between terminals D and F of the adjustable pedals relay connector. Verify the test lamp does not illuminate.

^ If the test lamp illuminates, replace the adjustable pedals switch.

9. If all circuits test normal, replace the adjustable pedals relay.
