Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the instrument panel (I/P). Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Disconnect the I/P wiring harness connectors and position out of the way. Refer to Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the body control module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the I/P air outlet ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement (Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement).
7. Remove the center air outlet. Refer to Center Air Outlet Replacement (Center Air Outlet Replacement).
8. Remove the defroster duct. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Duct Replacement (Defroster Air Outlet Duct Replacement).
9. Remove the bolt holding the HVAC module to the bracket on the I/P carrier, this bolt is located under the right side window defogger duct.
10. Remove the bolt holding the HVAC module to the bracket on the I/P carrier. This bolt is located under the left side window defogger duct.
11. Remove the bolt holding the HVAC module to the bracket on the I/P carrier. This bolt is located on the rear right center of the I/P carrier.
12. Remove the bolt holding the brake pedal bracket on the I/P carrier. This bolt is located on the upper rear side of the bracket.
13. Remove the ground wire bolts on the lower I/P carrier on the right and left sides.
14. Remove the bolts holding the steering column support bracket on the cowl panel brace.




15. Remove the bolts/screws which secure the I/P carrier to the body.
16. Remove the I/P carrier from the body.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the I/P carrier to the body.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

2. Install the bolts/screws which secure the I/P carrier to the body.

Tighten the bolts/screws to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Install the bolt holding the HVAC module to the bracket on the I/P carrier. This bolt is located under the right side window defogger duct.

Tighten the bolts/screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

4. Install the bolt holding the HVAC module to the bracket on the I/P carrier. This bolt is located under the left side window defogger duct.

Tighten the bolts/screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

5. Install the bolt holding the HVAC module to the bracket on the I/P carrier. This bolt is located on the rear right center of the I/P carrier.

Tighten the bolts/screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Install the bolt holding the brake pedal bracket on the I/P carrier. This bolt is located on the upper rear side of the bracket.

Tighten the bolts/screws to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

7. Install the ground wire bolts on the lower I/P carrier on the right and left sides.

Tighten the bolts/screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

8. Install the bolts holding the steering column support bracket on the cowl panel brace.

Tighten the bolts/screws to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

9. Install the defroster duct. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Duct Replacement (Defroster Air Outlet Duct Replacement).
10. Install the center air outlet. Refer to Center Air Outlet Replacement (Center Air Outlet Replacement).
11. Install the I/P air outlet ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement (Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement).
12. Install the A/C control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement (HVAC Control Module Replacement).
13. Install the EBCM. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement (Service and Repair).
14. Install the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement (Service and Repair).
15. Install the wiring harness. Refer to Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Replacement (Service and Repair).
16. Install the I/P. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
18. Enable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
