REMOVAL

NOTE: The folding top has been factory positioned to correlate with the location of the side window glass. The following procedure describes the process to replace the existing folding top by locating a new folding top in the same position as the previously installed top. The entire folding top assembly should never be adjusted at its mounting points.

1. Position the convertible top in the raised position.
2. Remove the rear seat cushion Seat Cushion - Removal.
3. Remove the interior quarter trim panels Removal - Convertible.
4. Remove the rear seat back Seat Back - Removal.
5. Remove the push-pins (1) that secure the convertible top well (2) to the rear seat back panel (3) and body (4) and remove the well liner.

6. Partially lower the convertible top to access the four screws (1) that secure the deck upper belt molding (3).
7. Remove the four screws that secure the deck upper belt molding and the water trough (2) to the rear of the vehicle and remove the molding.

8. Remove the protective cover (3) from the top of the hydraulic pump/motor assembly (4).

NOTE: The left tension barrel bolt is directly accessible from inside the trunk. The right tension bolt must be accessed through the jack storage door opening.

9. Remove the rubber grommet (1) from each side of the top of the shelf panel (2) and disconnect both tension strap barrels from the shelf panel.

NOTE: Place a reference mark along the outer edge of the seat back support brackets to ensure they are reinstalled to their original positions.

10. Remove the three bolts (1) and two nuts (2) that secure each rear seat back support bracket (3) and remove both brackets.

11. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
12. Disconnect the convertible top wire harness from the main body harness.

14. Remove the six retaining clips (3 per side) that secure the hydraulic hoses and wire harness to the body.
15. Remove each bolt (2) one at a time that secures the main pivot bracket to the body. Mark the position of the bracket holes on the body (paint, a marker or a scribe are suggested) and then temporarily reinstall each bolt securely.
16. Once each bolt hole position has been located on the body, remove all of the bolts that secure the main pivot bracket to the body.
17. Remove the rear (floating) bow from the water trough at the rear of the vehicle and remove the folding convertible top assembly (1).
